BMW Will Release An Electric Series Of Entry Level Automobiles.
BMW is developing an all-electric version of its 5 Series and 7 Series sedans as well as its entry-level X1 SUV to reduce its overall emissions. According to BMW, their 3 Series fully electric version is the most lively BMW car in America. Earlier this month, BMW unveiled their latest all-electric iX3 model. BMW says it has no plans to discontinue its gas-powered, mild hybrid, or plug-in hybrid model. However, BMW will take steps to reduce CO2 emissions within the next 10 years.
According to BMW, 7 million BMW cars are still in operation today, 4.6 million are fully electric cars out of it. BMW sells 2.5 million cars a year. BMW claims to be industry-wide in creating the best supply system for its electric vehicles, including agreeing to use only the new battery supplier "100% green power" for their new electric cars. Chairman Oliver Zips states that the company has developed a 10 year plan with annual interim goals for 2030, and BMW reports on their progress each year and will measure the company's progress with these goals.
Like many other legacy automakers, BMW is racing to get ahead of strict emissions regulations in Europe and China. Some cities in Europe are even banning internal combustion engines outright. So let's look forward to see a CO2 emission reduced entry level vehicle from BMW.
